Rewilding area "Saumbachwiesen" in Neeracherried

Neeracherried is one of the most important stopover sites for waders in Switzerland: In the meadows of the Scottish Highland cattle, dozens of Lapwings and regularily impressive numbers of other waders can be found. In recent years, an additional area at the eastern border of Neeracherried has been rewildered, the so-called Saumbachwiesen. Several shallow ponds and a swale - aroud 200 meters long - could be created.

Highlights observed so far were, amongst others, a Red-necked Phalarope that was seen along with a Temminck's Stint.

SBA supports the project Saumbachwiesen to finance appropriate maintenance of the area, so waders and other birds can make optimal use of the site.
